I've taken 3 doses, one month apart. My hips and joints are killing me. I have been migraine free, however I am so uncomfortable. I was told the only side effects were regarding the injection site. That is impossible, since all drugs can have various side effects It wasn't until I read other reviews that I correlated my joint pain to this drug.

I understand that this drug can be life changing for some people, and as someone who hoped she was one of those people, I do not wish to take that away from anyone. I just encourage caution when trying this drug, as side effects are not properly labelled and a small percentage of people will experience life-altering side effects. I was told constipation was the only thing I needed to look out for ...

Causes autoimmune diseases. Took it for about a year thinking the side effects would subside, but they got worse especially with my last injection. I can’t even function anymore. My nerve pain is so intense, I had to quit my job. My back pain is so bad now I can barely walk. Feels like I’m dying everyday. Messed with my immune system so badly. Everything makes me sick now. I never used to get sick. It’s been months with no relief. My veins are all inflamed and constricted, heart palpitations. Toes and hands started turning blue. My leg still hurts from where I gave myself the injection over 5 months ago. I don’t have good days anymore. I used to go to the gym 4 to 6 times a week. I haven’t been there in months. I’m basically just waiting to die. I turned into a crippled bed ridden old lady.! Do not take this! Cgrp regulates our veins and all of our organs. We need it. Inhibiting it is very very bad. They are trying to depopulate and get rich off of killing us in the process. Evil evil people. I am so angry my doctor told me to take this and the only reaction is injection site….without doing further investigating on what it actually does to the body. I am trying to stay optimistic and find that nitric oxide helps my veins a little….but it’s hard to know you now have a lifelong autoimmune disease and will never feel like yourself again. I used to sing and perform in bands…can’t do that anymore. I constantly cancel plans or am late because it hurts to stand too long. I am going on disability. I spoke with two different women that had to get their ovaries removed (that was with the injection Aimovig), many other women have told me their lives have also been ruined from this drug. Lawsuits are in the works. One woman even said she was in the clinical trial for emgality and developed Mast cell disease. She reported it and there is no mention of it anywhere. She also says she has friends that developed autoimmune diseases from emgality as well. I doubt most people can last on these killer drugs more than a year without starting to get horrible side effects. I had a roommate that promised when he moved in, he would smoke outside because he knew it triggered my worst migraines. He did anyway when I constantly begged him to smoke outside. He is the reason I kept taking the emgality to avoid horrible 4-5 day migraines even through the bad side effects and I can’t help but feel resentment towards him as well. Even when I told him it gave me horrible side effects, he would yell at me to take it saying I’m better off not having migraines. I told him you have no idea how I feel on this. Im angry and I am having trouble letting go of it. Please pray for me. May God grant me the strength to forgive :( Read More Read Less
stopping Emgality after 2 years, yes it has helped with migraines but the side affects are not worth it, i have gained 20lbs since starting the shot, have been on so many diets including Keto and not losing a pound..., i stay bloated all the time, has messed up my gastrinal tract, i get twitching muscle spams alot expecially in my eardrum... just not worth it to me ill just have to take excedrin everyday
It definitely helped. No denying that. However, very painful and someone else has to do it. It does not prevent all migraines. I think it might have caused alot of my body to feel older Like with my joints . In the beginning I loved this medicine, but not so much now. And I just read that this was a product of chimera. Human and mice. humanized monoclonal antibody. Creepy. I'm quitting it.
I understand that this drug can be life changing for some people, and as someone who hoped she was one of those people, I do not wish to take that away from anyone. I just encourage caution when trying this drug, as side effects are not properly labelled and a small percentage of people will experience life-altering side effects. I was told constipation was the only thing I needed to look out for (lol). Since my second dose (it's been two and a half months now), I have been experiencing extreme brain fog to the point of having dissociative episodes. I have also had mood swings, aura, dizziness and nausea, weight gain, intermittent cold-like symptoms, and strange cardiovascular occurrences (abnormal breathing, irregular heart rate). This medication has destroyed my life and left me unable to function. There is a lot of propaganda out there promoting CGRP drugs (look at all the money they are making), but I encourage you to find an unbiased source of information on CGRP's role in the body before trying a drug that alters it.Read More Read Less
THIS IS AMAZING - please ignore ANY negative reviews on this medication. Myself, I have not noticed a single side effect, literally zero. My family and friends who I have recommended it to al say the exact same thing, no side effects. BUT SERIOUSLY I went from having 4-5 migraine days a WEEK, and during this time I was on beta blockers to prevent migraines and having to take rizatriptan and cambia multiple times a day, to literally the DAY I had my first emgality shot. Since that day I have not had a single migraine day. I don’t even have a headache any day. I can tell when it is nearing the end of the month and almost due for my next injection, as I tend to start getting pressure behind my eyes and temples, and maybe (rarely) I will get an actual headache. But overall I cannot reccomend this enough. The injection itself is super easy. I used to have a severe phobia of needles but over the years I have grown to just ‘not enjoy them’ but this is totally okay for me. At first I had a friend do it for me just cause I couldnt being myself to push the button myself, but by about the third injection I was good to do it myself. This goes into a fatty part of the body, NOT MUSCLE! I have found that pinching together some stomach fat works well, and kind of prop your self up 45 degrees but legs are up like you are laying down. I recommend taking the box out of the fridge about 45 minutes before you are going to inject it, it lets the liquid warm up and not feel so strange. Once you’re laying down and ready, you twist off the safety cap which I always do when it’s away from me so I never actually ever see the needle, and then place the wide base up against that belly fat pretty firmly. I find if I can feel the flared base against my skin I can really focus on that instead of the needle. Then unlock the button and push and hold it for 10 seconds or until the needle pops back up, it makes a click you’ll know the sound. The needle entering does not hurt at all, the first 3-4 seconds of the injection, I’m not going to lie, it stings. Not unbearable by any means but it is a decent amount of medication going in, and I like to believe that’s why it’s stinging but I don’t actually know. After about 4 seconds this is totally gone and you don’t feel anything, and then the needle will soon pop up. I always have a little spec of blood and clear liquid come from the injection site, I mean like a teeny tiny little dot, I just wipe it with my finger (I know I should use an alcohol pad I’m sure but whoops) and then it’s gone. This does not at all hurt like a flu shot. After I wipe that spec away there is zero evidence that you just had an injection there. Zero swelling or it being tender. And honestly to me, that 3-4 seconds of stinging, is SO WORTH IT!! And it is only once a month which is super reasonable. So please! If you have tried other preventative medications and nothing is working, PLEASE TRY EMGALITY! I hope it can work as well for you as it does for me <3Read More Read Less
I was headache free for two years after beginning this treatment. It has been absolutely life changing! I got covid vax in March 2021 and covid in October 2021. Since I have had covid, I am getting migraines again. Wondering if the vax or virus caused the Emgality to stop working? Anyone else having this experience?
I have been on this medication for 3 years. At first I didn't think it worked but it takes about a year to build up a I had the painful throbbing and vomiting headache
I have been taking Emgality for over 3 years and I have achieved very good headache control. While I still have some migraines, they are shorter in duration and less severe than ever before. I have had migraines for 58 years and tried so many medications and treatments. I have not had to take time off work due to a migraine since I began taking Emgality and I can make social plans without fear of having to cancel. I have not had any of these terrible side effects that I see in other reviews. I would urge people to try it for themselves--this may be the one that works for you. I tried Ajovy before Emgality and found better results with Emgality. Read More Read Less
Life changing med for me. I still get occasional migraines, but they are much easier to abort with triptain class meds. Headaches have decreased about 75 percent since the second month of taking emgality.
I started in gallery in July 2021. Immediately had hair loss issues, that was fine told myself I could buy a wig if I have to since it was working. By month three one week before my injection was due woke up with horrible migraine ARA's pain vomiting, this happened again month four and five one week before my injection was due. Month 6 I just had a horrible migraine that started at work, sudden onset pain, and vomiting, had to call my son to take me to the ER and this is 2 weeks prior to injection. I will not be using them gallery anymore. I also had some of the minor side effects that others are talking about, gut issues some anxiety and major increase in reflux.Read More Read Less
Headaches would go away for 2 weeks and then back full on after that. Has anyone noticed in women facial hair growing…
This is the only thing that has worked completely for me. It has STOPPED my migraines - and I was getting them almost daily! The injection does sting but it’s only once a month and worth it for the relief.
To start, I have always had random body twitches due to other underlying medical conditions. I had been taking emgailty for a while and then stopped for about 2-3 months because of insurance stuff. I just took it again for the first time and my body has not twitched like this for years. I completely panicking and my body will not stop. It feels horrible and it does not go away. My migraines are worse and my body is killing me. Do not take this.
My migraines were reduced in half however , the pain in my head moved to my back. I’m so miserable with spine and back pain. I feel like some one is needling my back AND I’m constipated. I can’t wait till this gets out of my system. I’m in such horrible pain.
I had awful migraines for as long as I could remember - Some of my earliest memories are of watching migraine auras against the wall. I was given quite a few different treatments, including a medical trial, and nothing had really given me substantial relief until I tried emgality. I honestly didn't know what a day without a headache felt like until I started taking this medicine. The only problem is that it stings pretty badly during injection. I went from being able to administer it myself the first few months, to shaking and freezing because the pain shocked my anxiety so bad. Thankfully I have someone to help me inject, but it's still so rough. I love what it does for me, I'm so grateful for being able to live without migraines, but I'm also very glad I only have to take it once a month - I don't think I could do it more often.Read More Read Less
I have gone from 3-5 migraines at level 8-9 in pain monthly that put me down for about 2 days, sometimes 5 days and now to maybe 1-2 migraines at 1-3 in pain monthly and may last up to a full day, if that. Mostly 1/2 day. Month 6 or 7.
Emgality has been a total game changer for me! I hardly ever get headaches or migraines now. Before I would wake up with a migraine every day and most days it would get worse and worse. I was taking too many triptans that I was having rebound. Nothing else would help the headache. I highly recommend Emgality. The injection hurts a lot but I'll take 10 seconds of pain once a month over migraine daily!
I am a 23 yr old African American woman, I have had crippling migraines that came and never went away. I haven’t had a headache or migraine free day in years. Finally I decided one was too bad and went to get treatment. Emgality has been a life saver. In the 3 months I’ve been in it I’ve had 0 migraines and maybe 6 headaches (only one of which went away with Advil THAT NEVER WORKED BEFORE) I haven’t been so peaceful and happy in my life. I have had severe hand cramps and stiffness. Im not sure if it’s because of the drug but that’s when it started. It comes for a few days then goes. I’d rate that pain a 9 of 10 and I am somebody who handles pain very Well. Anyway, for now I’m okay with this being the only side effect as ignorant as that sounds I’ll take hurting hands over crippling migraines any day l. Should it worsen I’ll talk to my doctor about amovig however nothing else has ever worked. Other than this and sever sinuses I have no health conditions and an on no other drugs. Definitely give it a try if it’s recommended to you by your neurologist/doctor. Read More Read Less
BEWARE OF SIDE EFFECTS August/31/2021 After using Emgality 120mg for my Migraine Headaches I developed sides effects to it after 3+months, I noticed Muscle Weakness, General Weakness, Fatigue, Tiredness, Syncope, Tinnitus, Gastric Pain/Problems, Constipation, Bowel Bladder Urgency, Mood changes, Anxiety, Trouble Sleeping, Trouble Staying Asleep, and Muscle Twitches more common when laying down. I recieved Injections in the Stomach, Arm and Thigh. The first 3 months my Chronic Headache Pain was reduced from 5/10 Moderate Pain to 2/10 minimal Pain. After that Emgality looses effectiveness, as your body develops antibodies to fight off the medication.(Emgality Galcanezumab-gnlm was made from Chinese hamsters ovaries) There are other reports of this medication having life threatening symptoms. I Regret ever taking this Medication. I would rather have my life the way it was before taking this Medication. Please spread this information to save others from developing Possible life threatening symptoms. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION. Read More Read Less
I found the shots easy to do, put it in my thigh and was expecting it to be really painful but I found it way less painful than an Imitrex shot. No problem for the first 2 loading dose shots. A few hours after the shot I started having itching (very mild, similar to a reaction I had to Topamax but way way milder). Felt like a mosquito bite, itching would go away when I scratched it then appear a few mins later in another location. Was annoying but not enough to keep me awake. Wasn't able to reach my doctor and didn't feel like it was severe so I waited to hear back instead of heading to the E.R. since I didn't have anything else like trouble breathing or visible rash. The itching went on for about 12 hours on and off, gradually subsiding. My doctor said since it resolved quickly next time I can just take a benadryl dose and be watchful. No other side effects so far. One week out from my loading dose and i have had no migraines. It seems like a miracle to me. I keep catching myself smiling for no reason. Just incredible. I've had them since I was four years old, living life in misery and I'm now 60. Last month I had 20 days of migraine, nausea, weakness and really wasn't well the days I wasn't having migraine because I was recovering from the last one. Not only has this treatment stopped the migraine, I noticed I have so much energy. I realized I was likely fighting a low-level migraine all the time but had gotten so used to just feeling poorly I just ignored it and moved along as best I could. The low-level head pressure, brain fog and neck discomfort is gone (funny how you can just get used to feeling bad). I am getting so much done! I've gotten more work done in the past week than I have in a whole month. I always used to wonder how some could handle working full time, keep everything organized and clean in their houses and still have energy to have some fun and recreation. Now I understand! It's because they don't have pain sapping all their energy and brain power. I'm afraid to trust this miracle honestly because I've tried pretty much every preventative and they all were either ineffective or half-ass worked only some of the time. I'm going to live it up while it lasts and hope if it fails one of the other CGRPs will work. I am so freaking grateful to everyone to made this possible. I can actually have a life, at least for now.Read More Read Less
